Camanche and Twizle first met at their day job as engineers for a local corporation, never knowing that the other was involved with music for years…
Camanche grew up and resides in Central Islip, Long Island. He was raised on Soul music and VH1 during his childhood. Influenced by his older brother (a DJ in a local group), Camanche grew towards the Hip Hop scene -- working on group projects, recording demos, and releasing a featured debut single. Taking this experience, he set forth on a solo route, honing his craft until he met up with Twizle. Twizle was born and raised in Hicksville, Long Island before moving to Nesconset where he currently resides. He’s been involved with music since his grammar school days, forming an eclectic variety of garage bands and teaching himself to play different instruments as time and bands went forward. Gaining more interest in both the recording process and
soundtrack-type Ambient / Experimental music, he went off on his own to build a recording studio and began writing music for films and solo projects, releasing several CDs along the way.
By the tail end of 2004, they had discovered that the other was involved with music. Since they were both itching to get a new project going and shared a common love for music, Camanche and Twizle decided to get together and combine their different styles. To their surprise, their drastically different influences seemed to mesh together rather well, and Reality Serum was born. Recording their first single “Free Your Mind” in a home studio, it didn’t take long for them to spark some interest from local record label Supple Records, Inc. “They were just different and memorable,” says Rob Kaminek, President. “That’s not a combination found too often.”
Recently finished with their first full-length CD “Hop In” (released 3/17/07 on Supple Records, Inc.), Reality Serum has built quite a following locally and online. So much so, that Brooklyn based production company PackratNYC contacted the duo to make a video for their track “Here We Go” and California based film company Hypoxic Films featured the track “Enjoy Yourself” in their extreme wake-boarder film “Silly”. With its easily relatable lyrics and uniquely mesmerizing rhythms and riffs, the album is sure to make loyal listeners of those looking for music a bit out of the ordinary.
Currently, the band is shooting a new video for their track “Bring It On” off their CD “Hop In”. And, they will begin recording a new CD called “Reality Serum is the cravin’” in the coming weeks.
